Naloxone is a lifesaving medication that can reverse the effects of an opioid overdose. Individuals, families, and organizations can receive overdose education, naloxone training, and lifesaving kits. Learn more about these important resources.
Program Services
Naloxone can reverse the effects of an opioid overdose and can help saves lives. Throughout Central Illinois, the Drug Overdose Prevention Program (DOPP) grant provides the following opportunities:
- Opioid education
- Overdose prevention education
- Nasal Naloxone training and distribution
The DOPP grant was initiated in 2017, to date over 8,000 individuals have received education and over 21,000 individuals were trained and received a lifesaving Overdose rescue kit. This grant covers multiple counties including Peoria, Fulton, Tazewell, Woodford, LaSalle, Livingston, Knox, McDonough, Brown, Schuyler, Adams, Pike, Mason and Scott counties.
Education and training are available to individuals, family members, and organizations.
